DISTRIBUTION: Coastal and southern Ecuador up into western Andean valleys.

ECOLOGY: Seasonally dry deciduous forests, 0–500 m.

EDIBLE USE: Non-bitter fruits occasionally eaten.

MEDICINAL USE: Slice of fruit is used for soothing pain due to parotitis.

OTHER USE: Fed to donkeys particularly during drought periods.
