Everything under the sun regarding the Styrian pumpkin.
This will include its history, taxonomy, breeding, cultivation, pests and diseases, production, oil extraction, composition, and usage. |

Purpose:
Shed some light
on the Styrian pumpkin.
The scientific, industrial, farming, and culinary communities will gather together to exchange and disseminate new information and advancements in hull-less seeded pumpkin production and usage and ultimately propose guidelines for future research priorities and marketing strategies. |
|
The conference will start out in Graz, Austria, which is the provincial capital of Styria. This scenic region is the center for Styrian pumpkinseed oil production and consumption (known locally as kürbiskernöl or ölkürbis), an ideal location for this meeting (and for viewing the rare cosmic event of a total solar eclipse). After the eclipse, a day will be spent at the center for virus-research in Tulln, just up river from Vienna on the Danube in Lower Austria. The conference will wind up in Retz, the home of the fastest-growing pumpkin festival in Europe.
